Make-A-Wish Foundation’s Wish Granting Process Brings Happiness

Executive Michael Quiel dedicates much of his spare time to contributing to charitable causes. Michael Quiel is a regular donor to the Rypien Foundation, Phoenix Youth, and Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation begins the wish-granting process by reviewing referrals sent in by parents, children, and medical professionals. Nominated children must be over the age of two and a half and younger than 18 at the time of the referral. The organization’s committee evaluates the child’s medical eligibility to determine if he or she has a degenerative, progressive, or malignant condition that is life-threatening.

After being approved for a wish, a trained Make-A-Wish team visits the child to discuss his or her dream experience. The team members encourage the child to be imaginative and help him or her to truly discover what life-changing event or person would bring them joy and inspiration. To make the child’s wish a reality, the foundation coordinates with individuals and other organizations as needed. Then, the child is invited for a memorable day living out their wish.
