Rypien Foundation’s Creation of a Children’s Emergency Center

Michael Quiel is a longtime investment banking professional who has guided the consulting firm Legend Advisory Corporation as managing principal and director for more than a decade. Over the years, Michael Quiel has contributed approximately $2 million to the pediatric oncology-focused Rypien Foundation. A major project of the foundation has been the creation of a dedicated children’s center at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children’s Hospital.

This state-of-the-art facility offers “whole family” support for the loved ones of patients who have received a cancer diagnosis. Shortly following diagnosis, many parents and their children arrive at the hospital in a stressed-out, confused state, unable to manage the new reality of battling cancer. The emergency center is designed to provide children and their parents with a supportive, comfortable environment that addresses both medical and emotional requirements. Children have access to a treatment and waiting area that helps them ease anxieties and gives them a recovery-focused outlook toward their conditions.
