Volunteer Training for Make-A-Wish Foundation, Becoming a Wish Granter

An investment executive based in Fountain Hills, Arizona, Michael Quiel contributes to a number of charitable causes. Among his other philanthropic interests, Michael Quiel supports the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

On November 7, 2015, Make-A-Wish Arizona invites the community to join its Scottsdale Volunteer Orientation and Wish Granter Training. Located at the Parsons Wish House, the event kicks off at 8 a.m. for an hour-long volunteer orientation covering administrative and community event opportunities. Immediately after, training for wish granters begins and continues through 1:30 p.m. During this time, granters meet with families and their children to discuss wishes.

To become a wish granter, volunteers must complete an online application. All wish granters are required to be at least 21 years old and pass a background check. Background checks must be ordered and sent to Make-A-Wish Arizona by the prospective volunteer. This manual process reduces administrative fees incurred by the organization, allowing more children to receive their wishes. Make-A-Wish Arizona has expressed a critical need for wish granters who are bilingual.
